Collecting Pop Tabs for the Ronald McDonald House

"Collecting pop tabs is a great way to teach kids about philanthropy and the importance of recycling, and raise funds to help children and their families at the same time. Some of our Chapters raise thousands of dollars with their pop tab collections." - The Ronald McDonald House

This past year we worked together, in room 19, to collect coke tabs. With help from our families and friends, we were very successful in collecting a large amount of pop tabs to give to the Ronald McDonald House. This is a great way for the kiddos to learn about helping others. Collecting pop tabs is something simple enough for everyone to take part in. They are making a difference for other children and their families. Every bit we can collect, helps.

We placed this large tub in our window and even had students from other grade levels collect and bring bags from home. We were able to collect several tubs worth of tabs for the Ronald McDonald House!

For those of you who are not familiar with the Ronald McDonald House, it is a world-wide, non-profit organization, helping children and their families. Here is an excerpt from the Ronald McDonald website about who they are...

"Many families travel far from home to get treatment for their seriously ill or injured children. Often, it can be a long time to be away from home, or to divide a family. And, for children facing a serious medical crisis, nothing seems scarier than not having their mom and dad close by for love and support.
Our Ronald McDonald House program provides a “home-away-from-home” for families so they can stay close by their hospitalized child at little or no cost.  Our Houses are built on the simple idea that nothing else should matter when a family is focused on healing their child – not where they can afford to stay, where they will get their next meal or where they will lay their head at night to rest. We believe that when a child is hospitalized the love and support of family is as powerful as the strongest medicine prescribed."
